Pärnu Summer Academy

The aim of the Summer Academy is to bring students, higher education institutions and international know-how to the town and to create a functioning model of cooperation between higher education institutions and a physical and mental cultural and educational space. Students and lecturers from various universities will participate in the joint Summer Academy of Baltic and Nordic higher education institutions.

  • 20-25 July: Summer Academy under the supervision of lecturers from Estonian, Baltic and Nordic universities, moderated by Al Paldrok (Academia Non Grata).
  • 20 July: UT Pärnu College Day:
  • 16:00 UT Pärnu College director Garri Raagmaa’s greeting and presentation ‘The Elite and the Outskirts’.
  • 17:00 Marti Piirman’s lecture ‘Humour in Tourism’.
  • 18:00 Opening of Edward Von Lõngus’ exhibition in the gallery and library of UT Pärnu College. Edward von Lõngus’ photo series and objects from the major exhibition ‘Cathedral of Doomsday’. This unique photo series, created as a collaborative effort between Edward von Lõngus and photo artist Ruudu Rahumaru, is about the artist’s street art tour in Europe, which formed part of the EV100 international programme. In addition to the official programme, the artist was followed on trips by an ‘off-programme’, where the artist left his message on uncoordinated city walls. We can only take part in the artist’s journey and creative process through the photographs of Rahumaru, who was the only person the mysterious artist trusted to document his activities. A total of 11 European capitals were visited and marked: Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Paris, Budapest, Vilnius, London, Vienna and Riga. In addition, some objects come to the exhibition from Lõngus’ largest review exhibition ‘Cathedral of Doomsday’ (see also the virtual tour of the 2021 exhibition).
